Stealing is a very bad thing to do. I don't think Liesel should be stealing, even if the circumstances are bad. The farmer took his time to plant all of these trees. He worked really hard to plant them. I don't think it's fair that these kids are stealing them from him. There are plenty more options than stealing. The circumstances don't mean that it is ok to steal, or to do bad things. She has a lot more options. One of them could be to look for a job to help her family; and even if she wouldn't recieve a good salary, at least it would be a start, and it would help a little. Another option is that she could make a deal with the owner of the orchard; maybe she could exchange something for food, or she could work for him, and he would give her apples, or other food. There are many other options. Stealing is bad.

My prediction of this book, after I've read the first two chapters is that the Hubermanns will treat her badly, so she will try to escape to go look for her mother. I also think Liesel will start stealing books because maybe she's obssesed with reading. Maybe she will find a fascinating library, with a lot of fascinating books. So since she will like them so much, she will steal them, so that she can keep them all. Liesel will have a dangerous and extraordinary adventure; through this adventure she will encounter Death, but she will not jet die. I really think that Liesel will die at the end because Death follows her everywhere, and Death is the narrator, which is telling the story of how Liesel will die.
I think the Manicinis are doing the right steps at hiding Anita and Mami. I also think that not telling their children about them hiding in the house was good, because maybe one of them would say something to a friend, since they are little(the girls), they don't know much about what is happening. Besides the Mancinis aren't in danger. Because tío Pepe has to do with the government. The Mancini's house is like a protection. I think they (tía Marí and tío Pepe) know how much Anita and Mami and the whole family has suffered, so they are being very helpful at hiding them in the house. My opinion is different from the last one, because on the last one I thought it was very risky, but not in this one.
-June 7, 1961- Since they are in the Mancini's closet, in hiding, if the Mancinis go out, they can't move from the closet. Only tía Marí and tío Pepe know they are there. Oscar and the sisters don't know. If the SIM search the house, they must hide in the closet of the bathroom.-June 8, 1961-Radio Caribe is the legal radio station, and Radio Swan is still illegal; though it's the only one that tells the real news. Caribe tells the news in a way that the government looks like a good government. But Swan tells the real attrocities. Also, Pupo didn't announce anything so Trujillo's son is in charge thirsty for revenge. The SIM are doing raids, 5000 people have been arrested.-June 13, 1961-Tío Pepe went to the compound, and saw the SIM all over the place. It's and interrogation center. Anita keeps asking where Chucha is. Tío Pepe says that she is fine. She's working at Wimpy's. Sweeping up aisles.
I think Tío Toni and Papi are being very brave at trying to free their family and the country. But I think it is not fair for their family to suffer so much. I think this plan is really risky. I would think of my family first than anything. Tío Toni and Papi should think of how Anita and the whole family is suffering. What if the plan doesn't work, and they get caught. That could cause them their life!
However trying to free the country is really nice of them. I think it is very important to have freedom, and live in peace in your own country. But in order to succeed in this plan, they have to be very positive that it will work. Or maybe have another person complete the plan. But what I think they should do is just leave with the whole family to the United States, and just stay there with the rest of the family. I think that they are going to have peace and freedom there, and the whole family will live together.
My favorite book I read in middle school has been The Giver. The author is Lois Lowry. I thought it was a very interesting book. It had unreal things in it. This book is about an utopian world. It's about a boy named Jonas who wanted his world to be normal. In this world there is no feelings, everything is in black and white, there is no snow or rain, families are put together by people, and a lot of more wierd things. I liked this book because it has a good message, and gives another way of life; how life would be "perfect".
